Good Nutrition During Pregnancy

During pregnancy, food is paramount: the needs are greater and it is essential to avoid deficiencies.

The choice of foods during pregnancy is essential. The needs of the mother are varied, both for a smooth pregnancy and a development without baby problem. The currency which should accompany you during pregnancy is: do not eat for two, but better to eat twice!

Some habits to take…

The first habit to take is to adopt a very regular rhythm food: the ideal is to make three meals each day equal on the energy plan, plus two snacks light. It is also important to always respect the balance by insisting on food intakes of carbohydrates, iron and calcium. Take regular nutritional supplements that you are prescribed (vitamin D, iron…) but do not take any polyvitamines without consulting your doctor.

From energy first!

The "energy cost" of a pregnancy is an additional 150 kcal per day during the 1st quarter and 350 kcal at 2 and 3rd quarters. Of course, it depends on your body, your level of activity during pregnancy and other individual factors. Beware, if your ration energy is less than 1500 kcal per day during the second half of pregnancy, there can affect fetal growth

From meat to produce muscle!

The recommended intakes of protein are 70 grams per day for a pregnant women. The dietary intake exceed widely, except in women belonging to groups “at risk”.

Want sweet?

The metabolism of carbohydrates is profoundly altered during pregnancy, and glucose is very important for fetal tissue. We must focus on slow sugars (carbohydrates, for example) and spread carbohydrate meals during the day. The breakfast in particular should include slow carbohydrates: the risks of hypoglycemia are very important after fasting night. A breakfast carbohydrate must provide 40 to 50 grams of slow carbohydrates, which is the equivalent of 80 grams of bread or crackers 6 or 60 grams of cereal.

The lipids for nerves…

Lipids are important: they contribute to energy inputs. Care must be taken to their content of essential fatty acids, which are essential for newborns in general and a healthy development of nerve tissue in particular.

Calcium: also good for Mom

The needs for calcium are approximately 1000 mg per day. In addition to the bone mineralization in the child, the consumption of calcium protects pregnant woman's from the risk of hypertension and its serious complications and seizures of eclampsia. It enhances calcium in the milk to come. It would have a role in preventing the risk of postpartum depression

Vitamins are essential

The needs of vitamins are all increased during pregnancy. The needs for vitamins A, C and B are easily covered by a food sufficiently diversified. However, the coverage needs folic acid (vitamin B9) is a problem, many women showing a low rate in early pregnancy. The folic acid deficiency increases the risk of prematurity and retarded fetal growth. It can cause serious birth defects affecting the nervous system in some women prone. It advises all women to increase food intake in folic acid, and take food supplements from the draft pregnancy (at least two months before conception) and throughout the first quarter.

Vitamin D, often in late pregnancy, promotes hypocalcaemia newborn. That is why France on recommends vitamin D supplement systematically pregnant women, at least during the 3 rd quarter.

Iron for your baby

The iron needs are increased especially in the last 6 months of pregnancy, and seek input from 30 to 50 mg per day minimum (the iron needs during pregnancy are so high that it is usually necessary to take supplements). A consequence of iron deficiency increases the risk of prematurity and fetal hypotrophie. Given low reserves before pregnancy, many women have anemia and must receive iron supplements. The women most at risk are adolescents, women with pregnancies or multiple quarters, vegetarian.

The needs of other micronutrients (magnesium, zinc, iodine) are well covered by food. There is no evidence that fluoride supplements have an effect on future dental fetus.

Finally, salt can be consumed normally during pregnancy is 10 to 12 grams per day, except against-medical indication.

The First Three Symptoms of Pregnancy

The hormonal disruption caused by pregnancy can cause some early symptoms which one the most common of them is a missed period.

1st Symptom: Late period
The cessation of period is the first sign the most obvious. However, many women have irregular periods due to hormonal problems, making the sign a little less reliable. A delayed period will therefore not necessarily indicate a sign of pregnancy. Also, you can get pregnant after having several rounds without rules.

The period generally occur 15 days after ovulation when an egg is not fertilized. However, it can happen to a woman to have a cycle without ovulation. If your menstrual cycle is regular, the absence of period can be a sign of pregnancy.

2nd Symptoms: Larger and more sensitive breast

This is one of the first metamorphoses of pregnancy, your breasts are suddenly tougher and more voluminous. They are also inflated that two or three days before your period but also more painful, especially on the sides. Take a shower or sleep on their stomachs can become a true ordeal. The nipples take a darker color. Sometimes small protrusions called Montgomery's Tubercules can appear.

From the beginning of your pregnancy your breast is preparing to feed your child and to produce milk. Remember to change your size bras, the breasts have no muscles to support them when they become too heavy.

3rd symptoms: nausea and vomiting

Again, this is not an exclusive signs of pregnancy. Indeed, these symptoms usually occur only after a few weeks of pregnancy and can strike at any time, usually around two months. They are often accompanied with morning sickness.

Two scenarios arise, or you swallow everything that you fall under the hand, or you'll be sick having to eat certain foods.
Pregnancy can cause discomfort, comparable to seasickness, what to eat is still the best remedies. The challenge will be to choose your food. You may be surprised to see your favorite foods turn into food torture. It is also recommended to eat balanced.

Even if these symptoms are very revealing, they can not alone confirm a pregnancy. A pregnancy test and above all a confirmation of your gynecologist will give you a confirmation.

Week 7 Of Pregnancy: 9 Weeks Of Amenorrhea

You
You will always have nausea and minor discomfort but they will eventually disappear.
You'll also be very tired.
Your kidneys are working hard, think therefore to drink plenty of water (1.5 liters per day) to eliminate, it will also reduce your nausea.

Your baby
Your baby starts to move, you do not yet feel but can see its movements during the ultrasound. It measures about 20 mm and weighs 2 grams, he grew very rapidly and its size has almost doubled compared to last week.
His head is now separated from the body by the neck, despite the fact that it is still larger than the body.
The arms and legs get longer, his face becomes clear, eyelids, eyes closer, dental buds appear and the optic nerve is working. The fingers and toes begin to form and elbows also. The canal urogenital being put in place, lungs and other organs continue to grow.

Good to Know
Be careful with your weight gain during pregnancy , don’t do a diet plan without the advice of your doctor if you notice a weight gain too great.
Have a balanced diet and drink plenty of water.

Make an appointment with your gynecologist for your first prenatal visit mandatory.
It is also the time to declare your pregnancy to various agencies such as Social Security by sending them the form that you have given your doctor.

Week 5 Of Pregnancy: 7 Weeks Of Amenorrhea

You

Your breasts are hard and continue to grow. Small symptoms of pregnancy are present, namely nausea, tiredness …
You are hypersensitive, anxious and go suddenly from laughter to tears.
Your digestive system works more slowly with the consequences of bloating, heartburn and a bad digestion accompanied by constipation.

Be patient all these small problems will disappear within the next few weeks, they attest to the smooth running of your pregnancy.

Your baby
It continues to grow and is about 6 mm. Its members are beginning to grow, arms and legs get longer. The eyes and ears form, we also saw small holes in the nostrils, lips and tongue.

His heart has doubled in volume and starts to beat regularly but two times faster than an adult. The sides of the brain begin to develop.

At this stage of development your baby is very vulnerable because the formation of its principal organs (stomach, pancreas, kidneys, lungs and liver) is nearing completion. Be vigilant and do nothing that might affect your baby.

Good to Know
Eat (vegetables, fruit, bread), drink plenty of water and walk to help digestion.

Menstrual Cycle

The period of fertility is quite long for a woman: with puberty, which begins on average at 13 years and menopause, which occurs around 51 years, it still represents 38 years and nearly 500 rounds of 28 days!

Starting the first day of your period and ending the first day of the next menstrual period, a cycle lasts an average of 28 days, but there are wide variations from one woman to another and for the same woman.

Regular cycles have a dependence of the good functioning ovarian, itself controlled by two small glands of the brain (the hypothalamus and pituitary), it takes little to disrupt the mechanism precision: most of the conditions endocrine, being anorexic, or obese and to a lesser extent, stress can affect the smooth running of the menstrual cycle. This explains why it happens to all women or almost, to have shorter cycles and other longer during their lives. At the time of puberty and before menopause, this irregularity is almost inevitable.

4th Week Of Pregnancy

You
The volume of the uterus has increased. From the size of a fig before conception, to the size of a mandarin. It presses the bladder that causes frequent urination. For most women, nausea (especially in the morning on an empty stomach) and irrepressible desire to sleep during the day (especially after lunch) ... for several weeks.

Your baby
This is the beginning of organogenesis, the establishment of organs. The disc embryonic wraps itself on itself to become a cylinder. The embryo looks like a small bean and measure 5 mm in the 28th day. His weight has increased by 10 000 (it weighs less than a gram!) Since Day 1. It fleet in the middle of the amniotic cavity, connected by the umbilical cord.

Good to Know
Do not panic if small bleeding occur. They may be due to erosion of blood vessels of the uterine lining. Call your doctor if they are accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen. They may be a sign of a miscarriage.

2nd Week Of Pregnancy

You
By the end of this week, three days before the date of your period or the same day, you can make your home pregnancy test (sold in pharmacy). But its reliability is not complete, it is only a first indication and your doctor will ask you to confirm pregnancy by a blood test.

Your baby
The embryonic disc becomes oval and there cells, numbering 150, are divided into three layers (ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm), to be the source of all tissues (skin, muscles ... ) that constituent the body organ. On the 10th day, the egg is fully installed in the uterine lining (to penetrate the egg it made a hole but it is already closed). It measures 0.2 mm.

Good to Know
Attention, some pregnancy tests can give false hopes. In principle, from ten days' delay of your period, they are reliable in case of positive results.

I know there is scientific term that may appear difficult to understand here, but you can check Wikipedia for more information.

First Trimester Ultrasound

It takes place between 10 th and 12 th week of pregnancy and lasts about 30 minutes. This is the first time you become aware that you carry a small life in you, at the time of the first ultrasound your uterus is still very small, and the doctor uses this technique for checking, so

It allows him to:

  • Precisely date the beginning of your pregnancy and therefore the date of your baby birth
  • Determine the number of fetuses, perhaps you can expect twins
  • Check the vitality of your baby by listening to the heartbeat, you'll finally be able to listen to his little heart
  • Locate the placenta and check your genitals
  • Detect any anomalies in checking, such as the thickness of skin at the back of the baby's neck. Thickened skin is commonly associated with Downs syndrome and other chromosome abnormalities (trisomy 21).

The 1st Week Of Pregnancy: 3 Weeks Of Amenorrhea

You

There is no indication yet that you are pregnant. The only physical change that may take place is the increased volume of your breasts.

Although some will have an instant impression of being pregnant, for others the day will resemble the previous one. Your uterus weighs is 50 grams and no weight gain is apparent.

Your baby

Your baby settled quietly. A few hours after fertilization of an egg by sperm, egg will begin to divide into two cells identical to eventually look like a small ripe.
The fertilized egg will descend the fallopian tubes to the uterus and will focus on the walls of the uterus.this is the phase of implantation. At this stage, the embryo is measuring only 0.1 mm.

First Pregnancy Test To Do

To find out if you are pregnant, pregnancy tests are your friend, they are practical and you must use them to obtain the most reliable possible result.

How does a pregnancy test work?

The pregnancy test can detect the presence of the human chorionic gonadotropin, or HCG hormone, secreted only in cases of pregnancy and can be detected about ten days after fertilization.

The test is easy to do, you must collect a small sample of clean, midstream urine in a sterile plastic cup and put a chemically prepared testing strips into the sample of urine and wait for the result displayed. If it is positive, a specific symbol will appear in the window reading (often a blue). If negative, you can do another test some time later because such a result does not confirm you’re not pregnant.

Moreover, if it is positive, you have a good chance of becoming pregnant because the test is reliable to 99%. To confirm the result, ask your doctor who will prescribe a blood test to confirm and date your pregnancy.

The HCG Hormone

The hormone HCG or beta-HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is a hormone secreted during pregnancy. It has a particular role, and his strength helps reveal a multitude of elements, whether or not associated with pregnancy.

What is the hormone HCG and what is his role? The hormone HCG is secreted at the time of implantation, when the embryo attaches to the uterine wall, which will become the placenta. It’s role is to maintain the corpus luteum and to secrete progesterone itself for implantation. Clearly, if the egg is fixed and that the embryo develops, the body needs progesterone, which requires the corpus luteum, itself dependent on the hormone HCG. Its role in pregnancy is therefore essential.

The hormone HCG: A formidable indicator

Firstly, the hormone HCG, which can detect a pregnancy because it is present in the blood about ten days after fertilization and in urine a few days later. So this hormone is what pregnancy test (urine or clinical blood test) are looking for It can then let’s you know the exact date of the beginning of your pregnancy through the determination of its rate because it varies in a very precise way. It’s level also helps ensure smooth functioning of pregnancy, because if there is a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy, the level of hormone HCG can gives early warning.

Finally, thanks to its level between the 15th and 17th week, the hormone HCG is even a risk indicator of trisomy 21! If the rate indicates a risk, amniocentesis can be prescribed to confirm the anomaly, or not.

Doubts !!!

I have 2 weeks late from my menstrual period, but I do not feel any signs of pregnancy. Does this excludes a possible pregnancy? Starting from how many days of amenorrhea these signs usually appear?

The fact that you don't feel anything does not mean you're not pregnant, "felt" is highly variable depending on the women. The delay in the appearance of signs is also variable. The first signs are appearing classically are breast with sensitive nipple and breast tension. Why not take a pregnancy test which will verify your doubts?

Varicose Veins During Pregnancy

If pregnancy is a great happiness, it is sometimes accompanied by small concerns. And the legs are paying the price! Pressures strongest on the lower body, disrupted hormone secretion, weakened veins… All these factors increase the risk of varicose veins. It is vital to prevent as possible appearance.

We are not equal faced with the appearance of varicose veins. The disorder is indeed far more prevalent among women than among men.

A perilous period for veins

The risk is even more important in pregnant women. Pregnancy is a real disruption to the body and hormonal secretion totally disrupted. The amount of sex hormones secreted by the body is much higher during this period. The estrogen promote the emergence of oedema and progesterone tends to dilate the veins significantly.

These disorders continue generally until the child's birth and they explain the appearance of venous disease. The risk factor increases with the number of pregnancies completed: it is 23% at the 1 st pregnancy by 27% at 2 and 3 pregnancy, and 31% at the 4 th pregnancy.

Excess weight in pregnant women is also a factor likely to cause edema, cumbersome, and therefore varicose vein. The compression of veins from the small basin by the growing uterus also explains the occurrence of this type of pathology.

the various ways to reduce risks

Pregnancy is a particularly dangerous period for the veins and your doctor will prescribe appropriate treatment: bottom of contention, veinotoniques drugs, creams …

Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes and prefer the fuller trousers and do not wear socks. you must leave space for your legs! The stagnation of blood promotes blood flow down can go through small veins and thus provoke their expansion.

The drugs available today are very effective and the use of veinotoniques is particularly important and it is important to follow his treatment during pregnancy (and even after by the way!). These drugs exert a local anti-inflammatory, stimulate venous tone and protect the endothelial cells lining the inside of veins. The veinotoniques relieve symptoms.

Finally, it is important to avoid contact with the heat. Indeed, the legs of pregnant women tend to "blow" under the influence of heat and weight increased. It is also recommended to make some care lymphatic drainage and algae wraps so as to energize, reduce and relieve the legs.

The venous disease can be a real pain, exacerbated during pregnancy. These few simple and specific processes can quickly relieve pain. That is why it is essential to continue to treat the disease with all possible means. And these nine months pass calmly.

Constipation and Bloating Intestinal During Pregnancy

During your first week of pregnancy you may experience this physical discomfort, it's natural so don't worry :)

The intestinal bloating

Linked to intestinal fermentation, they can be reduced by eating small bites, and avoiding certain foods (turnips, corn, fried, sweet desserts, cakes, candies, cauliflower, cabbage, pulses, beans, asparagus etc.)..

Constipation

It is very common during pregnancy, encouraged by the hormonal changes and that causes a lowering of intestinal contractions.

To remedy this, food must be balanced and include foods rich in cellulose fibers: fruits, vegetables or bread. An abundant moisture is also needed: drink enough water.

Be careful not to take stimulant laxatives or irritants. If necessary, it is preferable to use mucilages or laxatives and lubricants. Small enemas are sometimes necessary. Do not hesitate to ask your doctor.

Pregnant Vacation

You are pregnant, not sick! You should enjoy your vacation. But without forgetting the words master of your future programme: caution and restraint

The mother is not sick, and when her pregnancy was proceeding normally there is no reason to prohibit physical activity "reasonable". Don't conclude that a shift of 500 km in a modern car on the motorway will cause dramatic interruption of a pregnancy without history!

Arrange to travel "comfortable". Stretch your legs, avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes and preserve you heat. A stop every two hours - also extremely advisable for any driver - you will also promote your traffic by 10 to 15 minutes walk in the shade. And if you're tired, or near term, take the train or plane. However, remember that the course of the 8th months passed, airlines would not accept you on board ...

Be Careful

Do not try tennis or volleyball on the beach. Not only because of Waterfalls they may lead, but also because of their "sports arrest" brutal. It is better you indulge in activities to a continuing nature that promote the training of muscles long and looking for endurance. Prudence and moderation, therefore, there is no shortage of exciting activities to help you preserve your workout without unnecessarily shake Baby!

Your Baby Has Trouble Falling Asleep? Avoid Drugs!

The hydroxyzine, known as atarax, is now sold as hypnotic as a syrup for children who have difficulty falling asleep. In the latest issue of the journal Prescrire, its editors denounced the side effects of treatment among younger, and a packaging unsuited.

"The effectiveness of hydroxyzine is not demonstrated while side effects are numerous and sometimes serious convulsions, somnolences daylight, hypersensitivity reactions…" Nothing really glossy sum. As for packaging, it does not meet the basic needs of security, since it is a product intended for children. "The bottle is not equipped with a plug-security, which exposes them to increased risk of poisoning. The oral syringe is graduated in millilitres while the dosage is expressed in milligrams, which raised fears of overdoses by mistake conversion. " In reality to deal with problems falling asleep in children, it is better to strengthen the health advice that "expose them to dangerous drugs".

Breastfeeding, Beautiful Teeth For Baby

We do not say it enough: breastfeeding is the best way to feed a child up to 6 months minimum.

The mother's milk contains everything that the baby needs on the nutritional plan to have a healthy bone and dental.

Another advantage is requesting more effort than bottle feeding, sucking on breast promotes the development of facial muscles and jaws. The teeth of babies fed by their mothers are better aligned and thereafter require less care orthodontic! If, despite everything you opt for the bottle, choose a dummy whose form is the closest possible to that of the nipple.
